🌿 5 Ways to Use Herbs

How do you feel about growing and using herbs?

As a kid, I really didn't use many herbs. I knew the basics - basil, mint, and oregano - and we had quite a few in the spice cupboard. But, they were generally used to make sauce for lasagna or spaghetti, not for much else.

Early last year, I imagined myself with a spice cupboard full of homegrown herbs, and something about that vision really struck me.

So, I brought home a whole bunch of herb starts from the farmers market early in the season - dill, oregano, thyme, mint, rosemary, lavender, and so much more.

Did I know exactly where I would plant them all? Uh, every gardener knows the answer to that question!

I don't know why, but it felt so wonderful to pick my first few bunches of oregano and thyme. There's something beautiful about plants that come back again and again, and the taste of freshly dried homegrown oregano is definitely worth the effort.

Whether you want to expand your herb garden this year or just want some fun ways to use the dried herbs from the store, you'll love these recipes!

Tip: Even if you don't like the specific herb in the recipe, consider how you could use the same method with another herb!

Chamomile Simple Syrup

Who doesn't love the strawberry-pineapple scent of chamomile? It always makes me smile! Such a tiny flower that can spread so much joy.

Lemon Dill Hummus

I grew my first patch of dill last year and had SO much fun with this plant! The umbels have the most majestic shape and I found myself touching the soft fronds all the time. Such a fun plant to grow!
